Shot in full color and with techniques being performed at full speed, Gershon Ben Keren’s first book explains the foundational concepts that make Krav Maga such an exceptional system of fighting and self-defense (to learn more about the concepts and principles upon which Krav Maga is based, click here to watch a selection of short videos). Looking primarily at pre-meditated threats and attacks, where an offender has a predefined outcome in mind, such as acquiring a wallet, phone and/or laptop etc., or abducting an individual, the book looks not just at the physical techniques and solutions needed to prevent them from happening but also the steps, stages, and processes that such individuals use and go through in order to achieve these outcomes. By understanding violent offending as the culmination of a process the book teaches how it is possible to predict, prevent and avoid being victimized this way. The book contains solutions for both unarmed and armed assaults, showing various ways to re-use similar movements to deal with different attacks and threats.
Read MoreLike “Krav Maga – Real World Solutions to Real World Violence”, “Krav Maga – tactical Survival” was shot in full color, with techniques being performed against fast moving and dynamic attacks, in the locations in which real-life threats and assaults occur. This method allows for all of Gershon Ben Keren’s books to have an authenticity that static shots lack. The focus of the book is on social violence, looking at the types of incidents that occur due to social interactions, such as disagreements, frustrations, and issues of respect etc. These may come about as the result of being cut off in a line, somebody having a parking space “stolen” from them, or somebody simply knocking into them and not apologizing etc. In these types of scenarios, the aggrieved party has no clear idea of what will rectify the injustice and see violence as the most likely way to satisfy their emotional state. By learning how to see the world through the eyes of an emotionally volatile person, and understanding a few simple ways to de-escalate the situation, in many cases a violent altercation can be avoided.
Read More“Krav Maga Extreme Survival”, was produced using the same methodology of Gershon Ben Keren’s first two books i.e., full color, shots taken in locations where attacks occur, at full speed etc. The book takes a look at three forms of extreme violence and looks at techniques and solutions for dealing with them. The first part of the book looks at active shooter and killer incidents. Conducting a systematic review of the academic literature and research into such events, criminologist Gershon Ben Keren, examined over 140 separate incidents looking at the similarities and disparities around them. Coupling this with his experiences of training in active killer incidents in Israel, he built on existing Israeli security models to present a tactical and strategic methodology for dealing with these events. The last two segments of the book look at home invasions and car jackings. Looking at both of these extreme forms of violence from a global perspective, the book details the various methods that those who engage in such offenses use as well as solutions to them.
